Opportunities for women in construction have become more common and it is very good to see more positions open up and to be worked by women.

I think men can also assist in mentoring women, but it takes an open mind and empowering attitude. Attracting younger generations into construction means breaking old stereotypes.

I like that in addition to women growing in the industry currently, they are also getting the younger generation more involved in the industry (through vocational schools, etc).

HPS has a lady steamfitter who is an amazing welder. She won last years MacGyver Award for designing a press adapter for straightening weldments that have distorted during the welding process. She is an inspiration to women not only in construction, but everywhere!
