There's Never Been a Better Time to Celebrate Women in Construction

With an extreme lack of skilled workers in the construction industry, there's never been a more important time to build a diverse and inclusive workforce. In this For Construction Pros article, they list some things that could change the way women feel about careers in construction and attract them to our great industry. What are your thoughts? Is there anything you would add to their list?

Being in the Steel Mills and Refinery my whole life women seem to be more detailed than men in my experience.

I feel that lack of workforce as a whole is a major issue that we are going to have to battle going forward. Continuing to promote trade schools in high school, I think, would help tremendously.

I think the list is a great one, I do think that women should be included in the construction industry early on.

These are all really great points. It's sad and frustrating to me that we still have to emphasize/talk about this. Growing up, I would have never imagined that I would work in the construction industry. There was no education directed at young women. I'm glad that I'm here, but we, as an industry, need to do better.

This was already a pretty good list. I can't think of what else to add!

I like all things listed! I can not think of anything to add but that women are powerful!

Great article. I firmly believe that men and women were created by the same God, and I know we were created for different roles. However, in today's time when so many businesses are struggling to find employees, now is the perfect time to hire women for these positions. Women are just as capable, if not more, to juggle a lot, handle anything.

I think the construction industry in a whole needs more women in the field. Maybe unions should recruit or have open house and target women. I believe here none of that is happening but I know more women are needed in the field.

We have women working for our company out in the field and they do very well, advancing up to the Journeyman level and beyond, with the proper training. We see more and more women getting into these competitive high paying construction jobs. Good for them!

Women are powerful and are needed in the construction industry. Whether we work outside or inside, women can do the same work men do in this industry, with the right mentors and training.
