There's Never Been a Better Time to Celebrate Women in Construction

With an extreme lack of skilled workers in the construction industry, there's never been a more important time to build a diverse and inclusive workforce. In this For Construction Pros article, they list some things that could change the way women feel about careers in construction and attract them to our great industry. What are your thoughts? Is there anything you would add to their list?

It starts with our youth. If we are in the schools working with programs to show our girls what opportunities our companies have to offer them, they will not shy away.

The topics covered are great! Especially agree with the workwear/clothing options.

I believe the push to recruit more women in construction will definitely help the sever labor shortage in the industry now. Kudos!

It appears that others share my thoughts in that one of the biggest ways to combat the lack of women, and really the employee sector as a whole, is through education of our youth. Get into our schools to children of all ages and let them see the career opportunities that exist, and that that construction is just as honorable of a career as any, and possibly more so as there is a feeling of satiation with construction.

I think getting all people involved in any job if they want to is great! With a great lack of workers in this economy, especially in trades, I think letting everyone know they can succeed is great!

I think that women in construction are just as valuable as men. A lot of the "paperwork/office work" wouldn't get done if it weren't for females in construction. I think specifically in our town it is more normal to see females in construction. As most women may not be on the job site they're defiantly prevalent in the office and as support staff.

All the points they made were spot on, I think with the work force being at an all time low, encouraging more women to join the field is fabulous and a smart move. I, as a woman in construction, feel that the "good ole boys" club is ending and inclusivity is rampant!

This is a much needed labor resource that must be tapped, our success depends on it.
