AS a woman who works in construction, though in the office rather than the field, it's empowering to see women in a position on the job sites. I hope this continues to grow as a trend. Women can work just as hard as men and should be given that opportunity.

I think with how genders are treated differently in many fields that is important for woman to do their part in all fields, especially those fields that are typically known to be dominated by the male gender. I am a proud woman working for a general contracting company and I am very happy to break that stereotype. It is so important !

It's nice to see the pay gap between women and men in the Construction industry narrowing. I see more and more women in Construction today than even just 5 years ago.

I agree with all of these! One thing that stuck out to me was introducing the idea that women can, and should, be part of this industry at an early age. It's nice to know that we're truly seeing an effort to get away from classifying jobs by gender when introducing them to our kids. I don't want my daughter to feel like being a woman holds her back from doing anything.

YES! All of this! Stop assuming that construction is only a man's job!

I think that the biggest key listed in the article is training and advancement. I feel like ensuring that your employees feel properly prepared and safe while doing their job is the most important aspect when performing construciton.

My experience is there are definite benefits to women in construction, especially in the detailed type of work. With all the current tools and material handling methods, the old belief that you can only succeed with strength is out the window.

We have women in different roles at our copy. The more successful ones are the ones who actually worked out in the field. They work their way through different positions. Speaking to different foreman's and asking how they are doing - reply its the drive within that make them successful. Union house pay comes with the position not what sex you are.
