I see more women today working in the construction industry; not only in the office but also in the field. I think support and encouragement play an intricate part. I have changed roles from the accounting department to the project management department as a project coordinator and absolutely love being involved in the projects and field. I have 100% support from the field and PMs which motivates me to continue learning and growing daily and be as valuable as I possibly can.

I think the industry would thrive even more with more women joining the workforce. I think we need to find a way to make the current workforce more accepting and inviting towards women.

Stand up and represent. The more women that show up and do a good job the more it breaks the stereotype. If you show that you can do the job the team starts to feel comfortable around you. I grew up in the 80's and saw one woman who worked hard and earned the respect of the others. I still respect her to this day. Then the crews that worked with her changed their attitudes. It opens up their minds for others to follow. I lost track of Sherri. But I still remember her example.
