The theme of Women in Construction Week 2022 is "Envision Equity"

As we are all well aware by now, women make up a small fraction of the construction industry compared to their male counterparts. Lots can still be done to help close the gender gap and build more awareness around the amazing career opportunities in our industry. There is definitely momentum to support and hire women in construction, but many are still looking for ways to move the needle a bit faster. We'd love to hear your thoughts on this important topic! Take a minute to reply to our discussion topic and let other members know about the strides that your organization is taking to help women thrive. How have you seen things change for the better for women in the industry? What do you think needs to be done to attract more women to the industry? Do you have any inspiring stories of women advancing in construction? What are your personal successes or perceptions as it relates to this important topic?

Overall it's about being confident enough to use your skillsets and knowledge to make the right decisions and listen to others' thoughts and ideas, giving and receiving respect. Once you are able to do this on a job site, then you earn respect as a professional regardless of your gender.

While we're slowly getting more women into field positions at our company (PM, Engineering, Installer, Service), many of our leadership positions are being/have been filled by women!

I think in this day and age women are accepted in the Construction working workforce in all department. We have women not only in the office but out in the field. I think it is amazing how much more opportunities are given to women than ever before. They truly can be anything they want to be.

Our company does a wonderful job spot lighting diversity. The more our daughters see faces that look like them in a role or career, the more encouraged they will become.

I love that my company is hiring more women for construction positions rather than just at the admin level.

We generally don't see very many women apply for construction jobs in the field. We have more job openings than at any point that I can remember in the past 20+ years, so we're trying to hire regardless of sex, etc.

I see a lot more women running projects instead of being support. It's taking time but we are getting there.

We have come along way as an industry. My company just announced the promotion of 5 women at all levels. It is so gratifying to see progress being made.
