Women in Construction Paving the Way

On Tuesday, March 22nd we had a live conversation with a panel of talented women where they share their personal journey of overcoming barriers, how they've seen the industry change, and what leadership opportunities look like for women in construction today. Here is a link to the webinar recording and below find a sampling of some of the great advice that was shared during this webcast. Be sure to listen to the recording to hear more amazing tips! Take a moment to reply with your own advice! "Be assertive, don't be afraid to speak up, try not to people please, learn to say no." "Ask your coworkers more about what they do and how you can help them be successful. You'll learn more about your company/industry and you'll gain a teammate" "Build those critical relationships so you get buy-in and support, and pick your battles. Your outcomes do speak for you!" "I believe in always learning and growing which sometimes is not comfortable, but you need to be uncomfortable to grow."

I think the word choices used in construction are very male dominant. By being more gender neutral, and using words more female oriented the industry could better attract female talent.

Great webinar. The construction industry needs to be an equal opportunity employer. Especially given the worker shortage that is being felt throughout the industry.

I find that it is easier to stand out when you ask questions about the company and how things work, even if it doesn't affect you or how you do your job. Sometimes, it actually can help the way you perform or helps you understand why you do what you do!

Great webinar! One piece of advice I'd have is don't let self-doubt keep you from speaking up. Yes, this is a male dominated industry, but women have a lot of insight and different perspectives to offer!
