I see more and more women entering construction areas of the workforce each year. I think as more women enter this type of workforce it will continue to grow and be a more common thing, which will in turn bring in more women to the industry. Women must continue to work hard to earn their way into the industry as they would commit and work hard towards any other job or task.

It's wonderful to see women thrive in the heavy highway construction industry. I was so excited to see our company add a female project manager to our organization this year.

I know that a lot has changed within my own company regarding the amount of women we have working here. Just within the last few years we have pretty much tripled our count of women working here and not just in the office, in the field as well. I think it is very important to give women the same opportunities that men are given. Some women may not be up for certain challenges, but if they are at least given the chance, I think that is acceptable.

Our CEO is a woman and our work environment is amazing. We are all on the same team, the competitiveness that I have experienced in other companies does not apply here. We also do a lot of on the job training so we can move current employee's into bigger roles which allows them to have a better understanding of the company as a whole. I think that hiring from inside the company is a great way to attract women and men to any company. You always feel like you are working towards something instead of working just to work.

So true "You don't know what you don't know!" The more girls are exposed to the idea that working in construction is a real opportunity the more they can explore the career field and advocate for themselves, as well as be advocated for.

I'm proud to be a woman working in construction even if it's in an administrative capacity. I think they way to attract more women to the industry is to have more competitive salaries that match the men working in construction.

I think there has been some improvements for women in construction, but there is still a long way to go until men and women are equally involved and valued in the industry.

Cultural respect starts at the top. If the executives treat anyone differantly it will flow down to the field. Likewise, there cannot be altered expectations. The job is the job. Get it done well and you deserve all the respect that goes with it. Most women that make it to the top get this and work harder and cleaner than their counterparts. Train that to the teams and respect for the work done eventually replaces the ‘cultural bias'.

I am a newer accountant in the industry (2.5 years) and am glad there are more opportunities for women and do see growth happening in my own company. I appreciated the reminder that we should look out for other women and make sure we are encouraging them to develop and grow in their skills. The video series was a good reminder to be confident in the skills you have and the value you bring to your organization. Thanks for putting this together!
