How to configure a read only user?

We are on 15.8.8 and are trying to create a Read Only setup to assign an employee/user to. I've set up a Role and assigned what menu things it can see. I've also set up a Group to which any read only users would be assigned. We have 1 user for it so far as a guinea pig but I cannot seem to make it so she can see, for instance, a work order that shows in her inbox. She clicks in to the WO screen but gets the message she is not allowed to view. I am unsure what permissions/licenses should be configured. I've taken a stab at it but she ends up able to edit or not see a WO, nothing in between.

Anyone got some hints for me? @Hyrum Kruger? ? @shanae tate? ? Somebody else?

    Hi Russell,

The group you made for the read-only users will still need View access to the work order (and SR and Insp) templates in Template Security: https://help.cityworks.com/Designer/15-8/Content/WorkOrders/ConfigureWorkOrderTemplateSecurity.htm

Try that out and let me know how it goes. That is the main permission I can think of.

Thanks. I had set up the group (Read Only Users) to have View and View Costs on all of the templates.

Hmm. That might be it. I had not granted that one because it is labelled "AMS Edit+ (Standard)". I've checked that on and she also has Workload. I'll see if that does the trick.

They will also need an AMS license. That can also throw the red bar error at the top saying she doesn't have permission to view.

Yes, I just tested creating a user. Here's what they need:

A login, AMS License, Group with View permissions to the templates, Site Menu Role, and Domain.

This will allow them to see the activities, but the Save, Delete, Close, etc buttons are greyed out, so they can't change anything.

The AMS license was it. I had not turned it on for the individual because of the "Edit+" indicator thinking that would allow edit capability. Thank you!

Yes, that is confusing. I'm not sure where "Edit" came from, but there is a difference between the AMS Edit+ (Standard) license and AMS Edit (Essentials) license. With the Standard license, a user can access the Cityworks-centric APIs, in addition to doing normal work in Cityworks.

I'm sure there are more details about that, but that is the gist of it.
